Ever since Mark was very small, he's been driving and parking. When he was less than 2, he could drive his cars up and down the couch for, literally, hours. If we were lying on the couch, he would drive up and down us. And then he would park the cars (again, if we were there, he would park them on us or sometimes in our pants legs, which was totally awesome in every way). And then he would un-park them and drive them some more. He did it with so much focus and for such long periods of time that it was almost worrisome. Also, this was entertaining to him for several years. The girls, although they can also play at certain games for periods of time, never did anything quite like it.
And then he got older and started doing other things more. (Which was a good thing.) Yet he remains my most focused child. He can still sit and play for long periods of time with Legos, puzzles, Transformers or--when the mood strikes--even cars. In fact, he hadn't really played with his cars for over a year and then a few weeks ago, he got them out and started parking them--this time into little mazes (and, no, I didn't get a picture). It's not quite like those early days. But it's still fun to get a reminder of those times with Matchbox mazes, or masses of parked vehicles all grown up into a fleet of Transformers.
