This summer we got a bunch of stone from some friends whose landscaping company went awol on them. It was a lousy experience for them, but they were still nice enough to give us the stone they had when a much better landscaper came in and did the job right.
Anyway, for a long time we've been needing somewhere to put our picnic table--somewhere in the shade much of the day with a good view, somewhere just right. The problem was, that place didn't really exist. Rather, it existed, but not on a level surface. I would have just had lopsided outdoor lunches forever, but not Kip.
This is what the area looked like pre-patio. well sort of--you know we have issues with before pictures. It looked like a grassy slope at first. This is what it looked like in the first stages of the patio:
Just a few railroad ties stolen from my garden.
Add a few tons of dirt, the stones, a little cement for the fire pit, and some plants put in that bit around the tree (by yours truly) and voila.
(The grody dog kennel is not ours, by the way, but the awesome play area is--it's also compliments of Kip's imagination and craftsmanship.)
I think it's pretty good. (That blue stuff around it has grass seed in it. It's all Rural King had left.)
That's a great patio! I love it. We hope to change our fenced areas and put in a patio area too. (and so glad to see you stopped using railroad ties in the garden :) )
ReplyDeleteThey were very old railroad ties (weeds grew in them; frogs lived in them)and we put plastic under and around them, but yeah--they still made us a little nervous.
